If I were you I'd retard the timing a bit and see if that solves your problem, before I bought the map mod. Unless you find a deal that you just can't pass up.

you dont need the FMU with the vafc and 450's. so get rid of it, and then you will have no need for the MAP mod.

Hondata makes a chipped p28 obd1 ecu that was modified with a obd2 connector. It was plug and play for me, no need for a adapter harness.

Got everything including the big boost map $800. Already had Rc 440's. Had to buy a map sensor relocator though, $55 from JR.

I may have to check into that. That price seems pretty reasonable. For now I must get my car running as good as possible with the hack.
